Proudly Celebrating Our Anniversary: A Historic Milestone in Journalism
The Newspaper Türkiye, Which Has Etched Its Name in the History of the Press With Its Innovations, Record-Breaking Circulation Figures, and Lasting Contributions to Turkish Intellectual Life, Celebrates Its 56th Anniversary.
The reassuring newspaper Türkiye marks its 56th anniversary. Founded in 1970 by the late Enver Ören with a small group of devoted individuals under the name “Hakikat,” the newspaper has left a lasting mark on Turkey’s intellectual and media landscape. It has borne witness to more than half a century of the Republic through its headlines.
Türkiye has never compromised its nationalist and conservative editorial line, nor its commitment to local and national values. Its ownership and editorial stance have remained consistent. While competitors sought circulation through sensationalism and explicit content, Türkiye refrained from such practices. It became a family newspaper that could be comfortably read by all generations and welcomed into every home. This sincere and principled mission enabled Türkiye to break circulation records and secure its place among the “top 15 best-selling newspapers in the world.”
Our founder, Enver Ören, was not only a visionary leader but also an exceptional journalist.
BECAME A SCHOOL
At a time when the secular-left dominated the media landscape, Türkiye became the voice of the silent majority and a training ground for countless young talents from Anatolia. This “school” gave rise to major institutions such as İhlas Holding, the international news agency İhlas News Agency, the successful news channel TGRT Haber, the long-running children’s magazine Türkiye Çocuk, and İhlas Digital Assets, which has achieved over a billion digital interactions.

CHALLENGED CONVENTIONAL THINKING
While others reported events as they occurred, Türkiye stood out by anticipating developments ahead of time. With its “forward-looking” headlines, it reshaped media narratives. What came as a surprise to many was simply an expected outcome for Türkiye readers. This ability to foresee developments while they were still in the idea phase reflects the newspaper’s deep expertise and analytical strength built over more than half a century.
Here are just a few of the achievements we have accomplished in recent years…
ELECTIONS, AMNESTY, EYT…
We were the first to announce election dates months in advance—on multiple occasions.
Türkiye informed millions eagerly awaiting developments that the “Early Retirement (EYT)” regulation would be enacted.
The public learned from our headlines that a partial amnesty would be introduced, leading to the release of more than 50,000 detainees and easing prison overcrowding.

SYRIA: OUR AREA OF EXPERTISE
At the end of 2024, a regime change took place in neighboring Syria. The Aleppo operation marked the beginning of the transformation. Our readers were informed days in advance. Even rival media outlets praised this as a “major journalistic achievement.” We witnessed the historic moment as Syrians gathered for prayers at the Umayyad Mosque and recorded it with our headline. We also reported early on the dismantling of the terrorist organization SDG, exposed Israel’s attempts to provoke unrest in Latakia, and revealed plans for a “bloody corridor.” Our report on dual-national Turkish citizens participating in atrocities in Gaza sparked widespread discussion.
WE EXPOSED THE OCCUPATION
We brought global attention to humanitarian crises in Somalia and Myanmar, while also uncovering organ trafficking activities in Gaza. Both the Turkish public and the people of Cyprus learned through us about Israel’s attempts to acquire vast land areas under the guise of real estate investments.
Our persistent reporting led to legislative action in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. While highlighting critical global developments, we also addressed domestic issues, exposing opportunistic practices and revealing how luxury residential parking areas were misused as hidden vehicle storage by dealers.
Our reports prompted prosecutors to launch investigations, and the government introduced regulations to eliminate exploitation. We also warned the public about unfair municipal valuation increases under the headline “Deli Dumrul Municipality.”
We reported how tourism revenues were being diverted abroad through platforms such as Airbnb, highlighted tax losses from unregistered influencers, and exposed certain social media platforms being used for money laundering. We also played a key role in correcting over 100,000 road signs and addressing public safety issues.

WE SAID FAREWELL TO ARMS
One of Turkey’s most significant recent initiatives has been the “Terror-Free Turkey” process. The PKK announced its dissolution following a call from İmralı. We reported this development two weeks in advance under the headline “Disarmament and dissolution are imminent.” We consistently informed the public about each stage of the process, including calls for disarmament across various regions. As anticipated, no federal demands were included. We also provided exclusive insights into the commission’s work and background developments.
WE PROTECTED OUR HERITAGE
We were the first to report restoration issues at Selimiye Mosque in Edirne and attacks on Süleymaniye Mosque. We called out mistakes when necessary.
We highlighted potential issues in the proposed Copyright Law amendments, which were subsequently withdrawn. Likewise, our reporting on changes to the Manuscripts Regulation helped prevent harm to antiquarian booksellers.
WE MADE AN IMPACT IN SPORTS
The sports world was shaken by successive betting scandals. We exposed controversial WhatsApp communications within the Turkish Football Federation’s disciplinary board under the headline “We will settle the score next season,” leading to resignations.
Our report revealing that 225 footballers’ contracts were registered at minimum wage levels caused significant impact. We also disclosed UEFA’s monitoring of Fenerbahçe and revealed how referees were generating income by filing lawsuits against online harassment.
WE LED IN EDUCATION
Prospective teachers followed developments regarding the newly introduced Teacher Academy through our reporting. Our coverage brought attention to issues such as influencer teachers and led to policy action. We also highlighted the potential removal of mid-term breaks in the education system.
CONSISTENTLY TRUSTWORTHY
Throughout our 56-year history, we have maintained a constructive and responsible approach. Guided by Enver Ören’s principles, we have remained pioneering and forward-looking. Today, under the leadership of İhlas Holding Chairman Ahmet Mücahid Ören, we continue to make history and move confidently toward the future.
